Emmett Smith joined Bertrand, Fox, Elliot, Osman & Wenzel in 2021 as an associate, where his practice focuses on public entity defense. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Smith was a Deputy County Counsel responsible for litigating cases involving personal injury, dangerous conditions, employment law, and civil rights for the County of Merced.
In 2018, Mr. Smith earned his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. During his time there, Mr. Smith interned for the U.S. Coast Guard and the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office. After law school, Mr. Smith began his career litigating a wide range of general commercial matters in private practice.
Mr. Smith has been an active member of the State Bar of California since 2018. He is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, as well as all California State Courts.
